Where’s the best place for listeners to connect with you?: Journey2Red on Intsagram

Describe your weight loss journey.: I’ve hit 350 twice in my life and prior to COVID got back under 300 only to gain 60 pounds. I’ve always done it by extreme calorie deficits and this time I decided to explore gastric sleeve. In meeting a nutritionist, I discovered I could lose weight and EAT! I’m still preopp and have 3 months of the program left.

What’s a skill you developed as a result of working through your weight loss process?: Consistency is everything and starting is the key. I came up with every excuse possible about when the next time I was going to get back to dieting.

What has that skill led to outside of weight loss?: I’ve always lived life being a goal driven person and hitting goals has been the motivation. I’ve learned with weight loss, there isn’t an end, and I need to stop seeing it like a place to get to. I’ve tried to transition that mindset to work and life in general. This idea of living and just being versus always setting next thing to achieve.

What advice would you give to someone working through their weight loss journey?: Consistency is key, just start. Once you’ve started, focus on pushing through day, week, month at a time. It’s not a race, don’t approach this as how quick can you get to the finish line.

What's something most people don't know about you that has nothing to do with weight loss?: I’m obsessed with camping and travel, I bought an RV early in 2021 after not leaving my house in 2020. So much of exploring and camping motivates me to want to do exercise which I’ve always dreaded. However, getting to walk, hike, explore, bike, kayak, and other exercise that is fun movement, is exciting and keeps me moving toward maintaining this journey.
